Under the Physical Therapy tab, you will find activities to work on Core Strength. Core strength refers to improving the strength of the muscles in the middle of our bodies, both stomach and back. Good core strength provides a good base of support in order to move more fluently and use our arms and hands for fine motor practice. Improving core strength can also improve posture and endurance for sitting. Check out lots of fun ways to incorporate core strengthening activities into play!
Under the PT tab, you will also find some great pictures of our Shaving Cream Ice Skating Day!!
In the Occupational Therapy section, you will find a new post with lots of fine motor and sensory activities for spring, suggestions for working on handwriting for older students and ways to help set up a successful homework station. Also included is a blog on common sensory supports seen in the classroom. Also in the OT section, we blogged on common sensory supports seen in the classroom.
THANK YOU to those who were able to join us for our Spring Parent Night, which occured on
March 18 at 6:30 pm. The topic focused on ways to practice functional skills at home, and included discussions on sensory and fine motor considerations for working on self-care tasks, specific ways to practice certain skills, such as dressing and grooming, as well as ways to assist your child in becoming more independent with these tasks.
